Podcasts for Business Owners

My five favorite podcasts as a business owner that support, and inspire me!

If you’re a business owner who loves to multi task, (like me!) you probably love podcasts. Doing my bookkeeping? Gotta have a podcast on. Rearranging the shop and putting out new inventory? I’m not going to do that in silence. Driving to a meeting for a potential collaboration? Podcast. Selling at a market and there’s a sudden lull in customers? You bet there’s an earbud hidden under this rose gold bob pumping a podcast through. I am not a true crime girlie, it’s either got be an interview show, or a self-improvement/business pod (bonus points if the business pod is interviewing a guest!).

Here are my favorite podcasts that support and inspire me as a business owner:

Hello seven podcast

The town hall to commit to building equitable, anti-racist organizations host Rachel Rodgers organized in 2020 continues to inspire me today. Forty percent of the products we carry at the shop are from black-owned businesses, and one hundred percent of all the vendors we use are women, and/or from marginalized communities. Her podcast is just as inspirational as that town hall 3 years ago, and hearing a woman unapologetically speak about making seven figures and being her absolute authentic self along the way is the energy I need in my life every week!

The Twelfth house podcast by holisticism:

Got a lil mysticism in your business brain too? This podcast might be for you! Michelle and team Holisticism are equal parts grounded and esoteric, while never taking themselves too seriously. Since discovering this podcast in 2021, I have gone back and listened to every single one of their 154 episodes (as of writing this) and some of them twice! Their ability to talk about topics like venture capital, investing, and creating systems within your business, and make it so accessible is incredible. They also don’t shy away from calling out problematic practices within the wellness industry, and they’re not afraid to get witchy with topics like archetypal energy, digital altars, and intuition!

Being boss podcast With Emily Thompson

Confession: I have kind of an aversion to anything ultra cheerleadery, “you go boss babe/girl boss!” vibes, when it comes to business. I obviously love pink as much as the next Elle Woods fan, but I don’t need it saturating all the content. Im not a boss babe, I’m the boss. I’m not a SHE.E.O. I’m the CEO, and I want the media I consume to reflect that. I also have an aversion to bro-ey, alpha male, hustle, grind, “you don’t want it bad enough if you’re not where you want to be!” vibes in business advice. The Being Boss podcast fills that gap perfectly for me. Emily Thompson gives practical, actionable business advice in a totally approachable way. (She also adds a little magic every so often, like tarot and using the phases of the moon!)

Imperfect Action With Steph Taylor

Sometimes I only have 20 minutes to soak up business advice (or sometimes I only have 20 minutes of attention span, lets be honest.) Online business strategist Steph Taylor provides bite-sized, actionable advice in episodes that are often only a little over 15 minutes long.

Cheers to your prosperity with Chioma E. Njoku

The newest podcast on this list (started in March 2022) is definitely worth a listen! Host Chioma Njoku, has been an accountant for more than 18 years and is also a financial coach. This show talks through how to use the principles of wealth, money mindset, spirituality, and much more to enhance your financial skillset. Her episodes on recession proofing your business made me feel so calm and confident!
